PRIVATE FLOAT HOMES
RESPECT & ENJOY
C2 - The Artful Kaleidoscope
Built at West Bay Marina, and originally called 'The Hermitage', this is the sister home to 'Pennies from Heaven'.

C3 - Ziggaratus
Ziggaratus was one of the first float homes at Fisherman’s Wharf, named for it’s resemblance to a tiny stepped pyramid, it is one of the most photographed float homes. One of the many interesting features of “Ziggy” is the glassed-in hatch in the floor through which you can watch marine life below. The hatch is now covered over with modern flooring.
Zigguratus was built some time after 1975 by artist and jeweler Dave Cox, using windows for the ground floor that were salvaged from the front porch of his brother’s home on Myrtle Ave. It is said that the majority of Ziggy’s owners have been artists.
An addition was added several years ago, expanding the living space to, wait for it, a whopping 437 sq. ft.! A small deck was also added on the backside, and the copper roof re-furbished after someone had painted it red. The current owners have also made major improvements, adding a gas fireplace, all new windows, doors and floatation. Four of the original stained glass windows remain and are a part of the charm and character of this quirky little float home.

C7 - Floating Heart
The basic structure of this float home began on land in 2005 by Roger Savoie. It was then craned into the water and tugged to the wharf. Christened Augusta May after the original owners' mothers, the home was finally completed in 2007 and has many interesting and carefully thought-out design features, such as the glassed-in viewing hatch to watch ocean life below. The third level 700 sq. ft. deck has 360 degree views of the harbour. Since then, she has been called Burano and Floating Heart.

C8 - The Swan
Constructed in the early 80s and originally used as a floating workshop, this is a good example of “old-school” float home construction with having one central log framed by six billets. As with older float homes, The Swan has a registration number 14K 37429. It is unknown when the float home’s previous name, Heart House, was changed to its current name.
Extensive renovations and upgrades have transformed The Swan into the well-cared for home it is now. The base is 34’ x 20’ over two storeys. In 2015, a large outdoor deck was converted into the living room overlooking the inner harbour with a small rear-facing deck. Increased interior living space allowed for construction of a modern kitchen upstairs with an added balcony. On the main floor, the home has laundry, a small “Harry Potter” closet under the staircase for storage, a library, four-piece bathroom and a large bedroom. The main door off the front deck features a stained-glass swan.

C10 - Aphloathaus
Aphloathaus is a traditional A-frame built in the old school tradition of float homes during the 1980’s. It has been extensively renovated over the decades and has turned into a 3 bedroom and 1.5 bath, 2 floor float home.
